When to use which button? The quick guide to keep in mind
Windshield foggy inside (rainy day, breathing, humidity)
- Front defogger button
- Air conditioning on
- Hot air directed towards the windshield
- Outside air (turn off recirculation)
Fog or dew on the outside of the windshield (humid morning after air conditioning)
- Windshield wipers + washer
- Fresh air or cool air conditioning blown on the windshield
- Avoid hot air at the start
Rear window foggy or frosty
- Rear defroster
- Wait for the heat to work (no need to scratch)
The most common (and easy to avoid) mistakes
- Recirculation activated: This traps humidity in the passenger compartment. For proper demisting, outside air is essential.
- Air conditioning off: It doesn’t just cool you down! It also acts as a dehumidifier.
- Manual wiping: Wiping with your hand or any cloth leaves greasy marks and increases fogging in the long run. Use a clean microfiber cloth instead.
Stickers on the rear window: These can damage the heating wires. The same goes for scratches or overly aggressive cleaning.
Smart maintenance that prolongs effectiveness
- Clean cabin filter: A clogged filter reduces airflow and prevents effective demisting.
- Air conditioning system maintained: If the air no longer dries the humidity, a check is necessary.
- Well-cleaned windows: The less oily they are, the less fogging they will be. A good cleaning makes a big difference.
- Electric vehicles: The operation is the same, but be careful of energy consumption. Use preheating while charging.
Just one press of the right button… and your driving comfort improves immediately.
