- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the softened cream cheese and stir for about 5 minutes until it begins to melt.
- Add the salt and black pepper, stirring to combine.
- Gradually whisk in the hot milk until the sauce is smooth.
- Add 1.5 cups of minced Swiss cheese and stir until melted and the sauce thickens. This should take about 5-10 minutes.
- Remove the sauce from the heat.
3. Assemble the Lasagna
- Spread 3/4 cup of the cheese sauce on the bottom of a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Layer 1/3 of the lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Top with 1/2 of the cooked chicken and 1/2 of the diced ham.
- Pour 1 cup of the cheese sauce over the chicken and ham.
- Repeat these layers: add another 1/3 of the noodles, the remaining chicken, ham, and 1 cup of cheese sauce.
- For the final layer, add the remaining noodles, cover with the rest of the cheese sauce, and sprinkle with the shredded Swiss cheese and bread crumbs.
- Season with a sprinkle of Italian spice.
4. Bake the Lasagna
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until the casserole begins to bubble.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the bread crumbs are golden brown.
- Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
