1. Harvest the Nettles:
Wear gloves and collect fresh nettles, preferably before they flower.
Chop them into smaller pieces to release more nutrients.
2. Prepare the Container:
Place the nettles in the container and add water. Ensure the nettles are fully submerged.
3. Let It Ferment:
Cover the container loosely to allow air circulation while keeping pests out.
Stir the mixture daily to speed up fermentation and prevent odor buildup.
4. Wait for Fermentation:
Fermentation takes about 10–14 days, depending on the temperature.
The fertilizer is ready when the bubbling stops, indicating that fermentation is complete.
5. Strain the Mixture:
Strain the liquid into another container, removing the nettle solids. The leftover plant material can be composted.
How to Use Nettle Fertilizer Syrup
1. Dilute the Fertilizer:
For young plants: Mix 1 part nettle syrup with 10 parts water.
For mature plants: Mix 1 part nettle syrup with 5 parts water.
2. Apply to Vegetables:
