How to Wash Yellowed Pillows: 3 Tips to Make Them White as New

Lemon, that little miracle citrus fruit, isn’t just for spicing up your salad dressings! It’s also a great ally for gently restoring your whites to brilliant whites.

How to do it?

Heat 2.5 liters of water , add  about 180 ml of lemon juice (6 mustard glasses) , then soak your pillow in this vitamin-rich bath for  2 hours . Then, a quick rinse with  soapy water , a good rinse, and let it dry naturally. The result: a pillow that smells clean and  is much lighter  !

  1. Magic duo: white vinegar and baking soda

This is a bit like  the essential duo of  French eco-friendly cleaning . Together, these two ingredients work wonders to neutralize odors, remove stains, and deeply sanitize.

The express method:

In a basin of hot water , pour  125 ml of white vinegar  and the same amount of  baking soda . Immerse your pillow in it and let it sit  for an hour . Then, put it in  the washing machine  on a normal cycle. And finally, dry it  flat, preferably in the open air  (and  in the sun if possible ). It’s as simple as that!

  1. A gentle alternative to bleach: lemon and hydrogen peroxide

If you’re looking for a slightly more  powerful solution without harsh chemicals , this blend is perfect. It helps remove older stains and brighten whites, while keeping the fibers intact.

Shock recipe:

In a bucket, mix 125 ml of lemon juice  with  250 ml of hydrogen peroxide (3% oxygenated water) , then add hot water. Soak your pillow for  an hour , rinse it  in the washing machine , and let it  dry in the sun . The bonus?  A deodorizing effect  and a  feeling of freshness  restored.

Changing your pillow is good. But giving it a second life naturally is even better!
