The solution is surprisingly simple. Here’s what you need to turn your regular remote into a rechargeable device:
- A small rechargeable battery (3.7V lithium type, such as a 14500 or equivalent)
- A USB charging module (type TP4056, easy to find on online sales sites)
- A diode (e.g. a 1N4007) to adjust the voltage if necessary
- A little patience… and that’s it!
The idea is to remove the conventional batteries and solder the battery wires in their place. You add a small micro-USB or USB-C port to the case (on the back, for example), and your remote becomes rechargeable like a smartphone . Convenient, right?
