- 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers (or 1 hibiscus tea bag)
- 2 cups water
- 1–2 teaspoons honey, stevia, or another natural sweetener (optional)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional, for flavor)
- Juice of ½ lemon or lime (optional, enhances flavor and vitamin C content)
- Ice cubes (for iced tea, optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Boil Water
- Heat 2 cups of water in a pot or kettle until it reaches a rolling boil.
Step 2: Add Hibiscus Flowers
- Remove the pot from heat and add the dried hibiscus flowers (or tea bag) to the hot water.
- Add optional ingredients like a cinnamon stick for extra flavor.
Step 3: Steep
- Cover and let the flowers steep for 5–10 minutes. The longer you steep, the stronger and more tangy the flavor will be.
Step 4: Strain
- Strain the tea into cups using a fine mesh sieve to remove the flowers. If you used a tea bag, simply discard it.
Step 5: Sweeten and Serve
- Add honey, stevia, or your preferred sweetener to taste (optional).
- For a refreshing twist, squeeze in the juice of ½ lemon or lime.
Step 6: Make It Iced (Optional)
- Let the tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Serve over ice for a chilled version.
