- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter (for dotting the filling)
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
