Why it’s advisable to leave the bathroom light on when staying in a hotel

When you arrive in a hotel room, exhausted after a long journey, all you want to do is close your eyes. However, one small detail can change your night… and sometimes much more. That small detail? Leaving the bathroom light on while you sleep. Behind this simple gesture lie reasons that are as practical as they are reassuring. Here’s why many experienced travelers never sleep in total darkness.

A light to face the unexpected

Imagine a fire alarm going off, a power outage, or worse: a security incident in the middle of the night. In an unfamiliar place, every second counts. Keeping the bathroom lit, even dimly, allows you to quickly find the exit, locate your essentials ( phone, keys, shoes ), or find your way without panicking.

In an emergency, fumbling around in the dark to find the light switch or your cell phone can waste precious time. This light then becomes  a reassuring landmark , a  silent source of security .

An ally against nighttime anxiety
