You won’t throw away your old used batteries anymore when you discover this brilliant idea

You’ve probably heard of this surprising trick: pouring lemon juice on a dead battery to bring it back to life. But does this method really work, or is it just a myth? We reveal what really happens when you try this experiment.

Can lemon juice really “recharge” a battery?

The idea seems almost magical: using simple lemon juice to revive a dead battery. Why not, after all?  Lemons are well known for their acidity and their many uses in household cleaning.  But what about their real power on batteries?

Lemon juice contains citric acid, a natural compound that could, in theory, trigger a chemical reaction.  Used alkaline batteries, for example, operate through oxidation-reduction reactions that produce electricity.  Over time, these reactions weaken, rendering the battery unusable.

Some believe that lemon acid can reactivate these reactions and restore some of the battery’s capacity.  It’s a bit like trying to revive a dirty device by giving it a quick cleaning.  But does it really work?

What actually happens when you pour lemon juice on a battery?
