Ridged nails: what they reveal about your health

Called  Beau’s lines , these grooves that run from left to right across the nail  should not be ignored . They often indicate that something has disrupted nail growth: a severe infection, recent surgery, intense stress, or chronic illness. If they are visible on multiple nails at once, it may suggest  a deeper disorder  such as diabetes, heart disease, or a lung problem.

Muehrcke’s lines ,  those horizontal white streaks that fade under pressure, may reflect  low blood protein levels . They are sometimes linked to  liver or kidney dysfunction . There’s no need to panic, but it’s best to seek medical help, especially if they appear on multiple nails.
