Steak and Cheese Grilled Sandwich Recipe

For the Steak:
200 g (7 oz) thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin works best)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Sandwich:
4 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough, ciabatta, or thick-cut white bread)
4 slices of provolone, cheddar, or mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup caramelized onions (optional, for extra flavor)
1/4 cup sautéed mushrooms (optional)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
