- Baking soda
- Dish soap (preferably grease-cutting)
- White vinegar (optional, for extra cleaning power)
- A non-abrasive scrub brush or sponge
- Hot water
- A towel or cloth for drying
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Apply Baking Soda: Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda directly onto the greasy surface of the pot. Make sure to cover all the greasy spots, especially the areas with the most buildup.
- Add Dish Soap: Pour a small amount of dish soap on top of the baking soda. The soap will help to break down the grease, and when combined with the baking soda, it creates a powerful cleaning paste.
- Add Hot Water: Pour hot water into the pot, just enough to wet the baking soda and dish soap mixture. You’ll see it begin to fizz slightly, which is a sign that it’s working. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, allowing the mixture to loosen the grease.
- Scrub Away the Grease: After the solution has had time to work, grab a non-abrasive scrub brush or sponge and start scrubbing the greasy areas. Apply a bit of pressure, but be gentle enough to avoid damaging the surface of your cookware.
- Optional Vinegar Boost: If the grease is particularly stubborn, pour a small amount of white vinegar over the baking soda mixture. The fizzing reaction between vinegar and baking soda can help break down tough grease even more effectively. Scrub again after adding vinegar.
- Rinse and Dry: Once the grease is gone, rinse the pot with warm water to remove any residue from the cleaning solution. Dry the pot with a towel or cloth, and it should be shining clean!
